UV hair extensions

Everything you need to know about the system, application, removal and the business side, with answers from the EHE LIGHT™ team.

For professionals

Extensions applied with EHE LIGHT™ can come loose after a few days if the hair still has conditioner or other product residue, if the adhesive has not been spread properly, if the bond point has been cured on one side only or with the device too far away, or if the application is too far from the root. Wash the hair with a gentle sulphate-free shampoo, rinse it thoroughly and dry it completely, without applying any other product. Spread the adhesive over the whole attachment point, from top to bottom, with the brush provided, cure above and below with the device no more than 1 cm from the adhesive, and apply close to the root, without touching the scalp and without tension, keeping to the distance given in the instructions.

Yes. The EHE LIGHT™ UV activator device is CE, RoHS and FCC certified, the three main regulatory certifications required for professional electronic devices in the EU, the UK and international markets. The device works in the UV-A range at a wavelength of 395 nm. The built-in safety shield gives additional protection during the professional curing cycle: 6 to 8 seconds on the top and 6 to 8 seconds on the underside, always within 1 cm of the bond point. The adhesive is formulated for professional use by trained professionals. Read the instructions supplied with the device carefully before first use.

Yes. All EHE LIGHT™ consumables, the UV adhesive for extensions, the dry adhesive removal solution and the removal tool, are available individually, as replacement or additional stock. This lets you keep your service running once the kit’s initial supplies are used up, without having to buy the complete kit again. The individual components and refill packs are listed in the Shop section.

The EHE LIGHT™ UV activator device is built to professional-grade durability standards and designed for intensive daily professional use. All devices are covered by a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty from the date of purchase, which covers manufacturing defects and device failures under normal conditions of use. In addition, every kit purchase includes 6 months of VIP customer support, a support channel dedicated to professionals, with priority response times.

EHE LIGHT™ is compatible with most professional hair extension formats. You can use adhesive extensions, keratin extensions, weft extensions and loose hair. For keratin, adhesive and weft extensions, the technique for converting them into strands involves cutting the seam to release individual strands. It is described in detail in the Hair compatibility section and in the complete Professional Guide (digital manual in Spanish, French and English). The ideal weight of a strand per bond point is 0.5 to 1.0 g, with the bond point placed 1.0 to 1.5 cm from the scalp.

The number of strand-by-strand bond points needed for a full-head result depends on the client’s natural hair density, the volume or length increase wanted and the weight of each extension strand used. As a general professional guide: an application for volume only on fine to medium hair usually takes between 80 and 120 individual bond points; a full length and volume transformation on medium-density natural hair takes between 120 and 200 bond points; very dense natural hair or a dramatic length extension may take more than 200 bond points. The EHE LIGHT™ density rule in module 08 of the Professional Guide (digital manual in Spanish, French and English) gives detailed guidance for calculating the number of bond points for each client.

The cured bond is water resistant, but it is best if your client avoids wetting it for the first three days, counted from the end of the application. After that she can wash her hair as normal, without overdoing it: two or three washes a week are enough, because prolonged exposure to moisture can gradually soften the bond over time. Advise her to apply conditioner from the mid-lengths to the ends, keeping it off the roots and bonds, and to dry the roots and bonds thoroughly after every wash, so that they do not stay damp for long periods.

EHE LIGHT™ bond points should be placed 1.0 to 1.5 cm from the surface of the scalp. This positioning keeps them close enough to the root for the bond to stay invisible with everyday styling, while keeping the distance needed to avoid any contact with the skin of the scalp. Module 08 of the EHE LIGHT™ Professional Guide (digital manual in Spanish, French and English) offers a detailed map of 6 application zones showing the best bond point positioning for each area of the head, including the temples, the crown and the nape, each of which has a different natural hair density and growth direction that must be taken into account.

Removal uses the EHE LIGHT™ dry adhesive removal solution, professional heat activation at 120°C and the EHE LIGHT™ removal tool. The solution is applied directly to each bond point with the precision dropper and left to penetrate for a few seconds. The bond point is then activated with the professional removal machine set to 120°C to speed up the breakdown of the adhesive. Once the bond has weakened, the removal tool is gently slid down in a downward movement, which separates the extension strand cleanly from the natural hair. If there is any resistance, repeat the solution and the heat before continuing. Any residue can be dissolved with another drop of solution, then removed with a comb.

When the removal protocol is followed correctly, EHE LIGHT™ removal is designed to protect the natural hair. The removal solution is a specific solvent that acts on the cured EHE LIGHT™ adhesive polymer, and professional heat activation at 120°C helps to weaken the bond so that it can open without excessive pulling. The removal tool is designed to slide through the weakened bond, without mechanical friction on the hair. The key to a gentle removal is to follow the whole sequence: removal solution, heat at the stated temperature, then controlled release. Forcing the removal before the bond has fully weakened is the only way to put tension on the hair.

Yes. Once the natural hair has been rinsed thoroughly to remove all traces of removal solution, washed again and dried completely, EHE LIGHT™ extensions can be reapplied in the same appointment. No mandatory rest period is needed between removal and reapplication, as long as the natural hair is in good condition and free of product residue. For clients who wear EHE LIGHT™ extensions continuously, on a maintenance cycle of 6 to 8 weeks, same-day removal and reapplication is the standard professional approach.
